Cyberpunk 2077 1.2 Update DELAYED Due To Cyber-Attacks

They say bad luck comes in threes. But when it comes to CD Projekt Red, it seems to come in heaps. From Cyberpunk 2077’s launch failings to CDPR servers being hacked and burgled, the Polish developer just can’t catch a break. Now, due to the aforementioned cyber-attack, Cyberpunk’s 1.2 update patch has been delayed.

The announcement was made through Cyberpunk’s official Twitter and provided the following statement in regards to the situation:

“While we dearly wanted to deliver Patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 in the timespan we detailed previously, the recent cyber attack on the studio’s IT infrastructure and extensive scope of the update mean this, unfortunately, will not happen — we’ll need some additional time.

Our goal for Patch 1.2 goes beyond any of our previous updates. We’ve been working on numerous overall quality improvements and fixes, and we still have work to do to make sure that’s what you get. With that in mind, we’re now aiming for release in the second half of March.

It’s not the news we enjoy sharing, but we want to make sure we launch this update properly. Stay tuned for more information as the time draws closer. Thank you for your continued patience and support.”

Wait, Cyber-Attack? What Did I Miss?

Cyberattackers previously managed to get a hold of CDPR’s source code library, which includes code for the likes of Cyberpunk, The Witcher and Gwent. Since then, Cyberpunk’s source code has been sold on the black market, which puts CDPR’s intellectual property at risk. The attack has also compromised the company’s security infrastructure, which probably explains why the planned Cyberpunk patch can’t go ahead.

For some players, this means that the wait for Cyberpunk 2077 will be even longer. Despite launching late last year, many players have been unable to experience the game in the way it was marketed. This is especially true on the PS4 and Xbox One, where the game looks, feels and plays drastically differently to its new generation counterparts.

Perhaps CDPR will be back up and running again sooner than you’d think. Until then, fans will have to make do with the current experience Cyberpunk 2077 has to offer.
