‘Millions Will Leave PC For Console Gaming,’ Claims Report

When it comes to the war between console gaming and PC gaming, it’s generally accepted that – if you can afford a decent set-up – PC is the way to go.

However, it looks like console gaming is going to be the way of the future, at least according to a new report by Jon Peddie Research [via PCGamer].

The report states that the “PC market continues to decline,” and believes that within the next three years as many as 20 million PC gamers could move over to “TV gaming platforms,” a.k.a games consoles.

It’s believed that those with PC builds worth less than a grand will be migrating over to the likes of the Xbox Two and the PlayStation 5, which will (probably) offer more bang for your buck in terms of graphics, speed and overall quality.

Of course, this doesn’t apply to those lucky people with some seriously $$$ PC set-ups directly, but if the JPR predictions turn out to be true, it’s going to definitely be a very interesting time for gamers.

The JPR report blames the supposed upcoming decline on a lack on innovation in PC gaming.

“The PC market continues to decline because the innovation that took place in the past providing speed ups and clever new things has all but stopped, plus the product introduction times are stretching out to four years,” said JPR in a statement.

“This is not a panic situation and the GPU market still generates incredible volume. However, there are forces at work that we predict will drive some of this business toward TV displays and associated gaming services.”

Google’s Stadia, a recently-revealed streaming service which promises AAA gaming on your phone, tablet or browser, might throw a spanner in the predictions though.

Also, let’s not forget the controversial Epic Games Store. People might quit PC gaming in favour of console gaming just because they hate the Epic Store…

What do you think about the prediction?
