The specs of the PlayStation 5 have finally been revealed to the world, and the console is looking pretty darn sweet if you ask me!
In celebration of the big reveal (which you can read about here), here’s GameByte’s list of games we can’t wait to play on PS5:
Godfall was the first confirmed PlayStation 5 game, and it’s looking like a seriously impressive title. The game’s official description reads as follows: “Godfall is a third-person fantasy looter-slasher focused on melee combat, coming to PlayStation 5 Holiday 2020. Developed by Counterplay Games & published by Gearbox Publishing.” More than likely, this will be bundled with a lot of the first batch of consoles, which is perfectly great in my book.
Developed by People Can Fly and published by Square Enix, Outriders is an upcoming co-op RPG shooter, that will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, PC as well as PS4 and Xbox One later this year. Outriders will see you play with up to three people through an original, dark and desperate sci-fi universe, and master the powers of one of four classes. Are we excited for this one? Yes. Yes we are.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered (SPECULATIVE)
Sony and Naughty Dog ported The Last of Us to PS4 with The Last of Us Remastered, and we’re more than likely to see the same with Part 2. This has yet to be confirmed by either party, though it’s almost a dead-cert at this point. The Last of Us Part 2 will release on PS4 on May 29.
Cyberpunk 2077 Remastered (SPECULATIVE)
CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 will land on current-gen consoles in September of this year, and it’s been confirmed that those who purchase the game will get a free upgrade to the PS5 version once it’s live. However, whether that will be a full PS5 version i.e. a remaster, or if it’ll be just the PS4 version using the PS5’s backwards compatibility isn’t yet clear. There’s definitely the market for a remastered version, so here’s hoping it happens somewhere down the line.
God Of War 2018 Sequel (SPECULATIVE)
Santa Monica Studio’s smash hit God of War reboot ended on a cliffhanger, making a sequel inevitable. However, God of War 2 (or Part 2 or GoW 5…whatever you want to call it) has yet to be confirmed. Considering just how successful GoW 2018 was, it’s again pretty much as guaranteed as guaranteed can be without actually being guaranteed, if you get me.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (SPECULATIVE)
PS4 exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man from Insomniac Games managed to capture the spirit and imagination of the PS2 classic superhero games, with the unbelievable web-swinging physics mechanics of a current-gen console. Thanks to its success, we can’t imagine a sequel isn’t happening, though again, it’s not been confirmed. Considering how great this game looks on PS4, its inevitable next-gen brother is going to look phenomenal.
The Elder Scrolls 6 (SPECULATIVE)
We know Bethesda is working on TES 6 but that’s all we know. The latest rumours on the next Elder Scrolls game suggest that we won’t be seeing it for at least another few years, putting it likely to be a PS5 release. If it’s going to be better than Skyrim, it’s going to take time.
Harry Potter RPG (SPECULATIVE)
A Harry Potter RPG leaked back in 2018, and it’s now to said to have been expecting its worldwide reveal during the now-cancelled E3 2020. When the reveal’s coming, we don’t know. But it’s pretty safe to say that this mysterious Wizarding World project will be coming to PS5.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 5 (SPECULATIVE)
Another heavily-rumoured and very-likely-to-happen title is 2020’s Call of Duty being Black Ops 5. Although we know a 2020 game is coming, it’s not been confirmed what we can expect. However, Activision follows a three-year development cycle that includes its three studios: Treyarch, Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward. With IF taking control of 2019’s Modern Warfare, Black Ops 5 is the likeliest candidate for the next game in the franchise.
Horizon Zero Dawn 2 (SPECULATIVE)
We’ve been hearing rumours of a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn for some time now, and hopefully they’re true. Again, one of the best titles on the PS4 (and soon PC!), HZD is a game that very much deserves a next-gen sequel.
