A Life-Size Godzilla Theme Park Attraction Is Coming

The King of giant beasts, Godzilla, is making his way into existence in full life-size form. Yes, an actual-sized Godzilla head and upper body (because an actual full one is just a recipe for disaster) is set to be unveiled over in Japan.

Godzilla will be making the Nijigen no More theme park on Awaji Island, Japan, his new home for the foreseeable future and it looks like no expense has been spared on the iconic monster.

He marks the first to-scale permanent attraction of his kind at a theme park anywhere, and he’s sure to be a huge success. Right now we just have miniature models and concept art to go off, but he’s looking VERY impressive.

Roughly 120 meters in length, people will enter Godzilla’s mouth via a zip line [via IT Media and Kotaku], whilst taking on the roles of researchers. Once inside the creature, they’ll have to his shoot cells (poor guy).

Speaking to Kyodo News, Chief Godzilla Officer of Toho Co, Keiji Ota said the attraction will have a “huge presence and tremendous impact.”

The design for the big fella is based on the design from the 2016 movie Shin Godzilla. The attraction will open next summer.

It’s a good time for new theme parks in Japan, as the highly-anticipated Super Nintendo World is well on its way to opening.

Earlier this year a series of photos straight outta Universal Studios Japan revealed a first-look at the theme park, and it’s just what our inner children were begging for.

As spotted by GoNintendo, the following images were shared to Twitter with the caption: “SUPER NINTENDO WORLD ™ is under construction behind JAWS Ride and will open in the spring of 2020.”
