Animal Crossing ‘Bellionaire’ Celebrates By Raising Money For Charity

The world’s very first and ‘legit’ Animal Crossing ‘Bellionaire’ has just celebrated the impressive milestone of having reached one million Bells – the in-game currency of AC. To mark this momentous occasion, the gamer made the selfless (and amazing!) decision to raise money for an animal shelter affected by the Nashville tornado disaster, which took place this year on March 3rd.

Twitch streamer and speedrunner by the name of BrianMP16 reached the milestone when he accumulated over a billion Bells in one single play through of the original Animal Crossing on the Nintendo GameCube. The feat makes him the first person to legitimately achieve this without the aid of cheats. Congratulations!

Sharing the news on Reddit, BrianMP16 wrote: “I became the world’s first Animal Crossing (GCN) Bellionaire! .. and now, I am running a weekend charity event to save animals affected by the Nashville tornadoes.”

Upon achieving this impressive feat, it was here that BrianMP16 decided to raise money for the PAWS Chicago Animal Shelter Group, a shelter supported by fundraisers that has a no kill animal policy which has taken in an increased number of abandoned animals in the wake of the tornado disaster.

One of BrianMP16’s incentives to encourage those watching his stream to donate, was by naming villagers in his Animal Crossing game after those that donated towards the fundraiser, which obviously proved to be quite a popular incentive.

BrianMP16’s initial stream raised $411, then his next set streams which took place on the following Saturday and Sunday, took his total to over $800 at the time of writing.  I know that $800 (just over £600) might not seem much to some, but that amount alone can buy a lot of animal food and supplies!

However, with Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the horizon (sorry, I couldn’t resist that cheap pun) releasing on March 20th, BrianMP16 has promised more charity livestreams in the near future, so keep a look out on his Twitter page for further announcements.
