A bug in BioWare’s Anthem has caused a lot of issues for players, as it means the level one gun weapon is actually more powerful than the endgame weapons.
In a post on Reddit, one Anthem player writes: “The Level 1 Defender Rifle is the best weapon in the game (also damage numbers are pointless and don’t mean anything).”

BioWare’s community manager has since responded to the claim, confirmed that yes, it’s true – but it’s not supposed to be that way.
BioWare said: “Hey everyone β Thanks for the feedback on this. I have confirmed with the team that this is in fact a bug related specifically to the default items on a loadout in combination with higher level gear you have equipped. Itβs not functioning as intended and the team is working on it for an upcoming fix.”

a game where even the STATS are COSMETIC ITEMS

It’s the latest in a slew of negativity surrounding Anthem, which launched last month to mediocre reviews and complaints of bugs, slow loading times and server issues.
People are reacting really nicely to it too. See you all at the @jasonschreier article killed me pic.twitter.com/W0ktUqqPsv

Despite its issues at launch, Anthem does have the potential to be a pretty great game – if only it had been properly polished up and finished when it released.
Anthem might still be disgustingly unfinished, loading screens to long, loot still severely broken after a major update to fix it, missing dozens of simple functions that even Destiny had at launch, but god damn do I love that barrel roll animation my Storm executes mid flight.

Hopefully a few patches will sort out the current issues and eventually Anthem will be the great game we’ve all been waiting for. Maybe.
