Apex Legends Has Hit 10 Million Players Four Times Quicker Than Fortnite

Apex Legends, the new ‘battle royale’ game, has had a seriously impressive start as 10 million players have had a go within three days. Comparing this to Fortnite, it took them two weeks to attract the same number of players. Plus, one million players were on it concurrently.

Within just 72 hours, this is a massive milestone to hit, and just goes to show that the game itself is worth trying out.

For a bit of backstory, Apex Legends is set in the same universe as the Titanfall series. We’re getting this battle royale for the time being, rather than a sequel.

Respawn Entertainment’s Vince Zampella wrote in an EA blog post: “In 72 hours, over 10 million players have jumped into Apex Legends and we’ve breached 1 million concurrent players!

“This has been a truly incredible journey. We tested and tweaked. We argued and agreed. We got to a point where we felt some magic. We knew it would be risky to take the franchise in this direction, to go free to play, and do a surprise launch. But we fell in love with Apex Legends and wanted, needed, other people to play it too.

“We hoped you’d love it as much as us, but never in our wildest dreams could we have expected the outpouring of support and positivity we’ve seen. From all of us at Respawn, thank you for giving us and Apex Legends a chance. Thank you for joining us on this journey. This is just the beginning! We have so much more in store for you this year.

“See you in the arena!”

If you fancy having a go, Apex Legends is available now on the EA Origin storefront on PC, as well as Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Yes, it is free to play. Have fun.
