It wasn’t long ago that it was reported that Marvel was developing a movie dedicated to everyones favourite female superhero Black Widow. The Avengers member is played by Scarlett Johansson and is expected to also play the superhero in the upcoming film. It was actually her colleague Captain America (Chris Evans) who seemingly confirmed that the standalone film is in development.
Chris Evans spoke to a journalist from ET Canada recently and was talking about the recent success of the recent Black Panther film. He had this to say about the success of the Marvel franchise.
There’s nothing they can’t do, man, I’m sure it’s going to have the exact same effect when Captain Marvel comes out, and then the Black Widow movie comes out. Marvel just has the winning recipe.
Scarlett Johansson has appeared in all of the Avengers movies that there have been so far. Five in total.
- Iron Man 2
- The Avengers
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier
- Avengers: Age of Ultron
- Captain America: Civil War
Scarlett Johansson will also appear in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War. Then again in the following years untitled Avengers 4 film. We have no idea when she will be able to fit in filming for the Black Widow film.
Johansson has previously said this about a standalone Black Widow film back in 2016.
If I did it, I’d have to do it while I still actually wanted to wear a skin-tight catsuit. I don’t know how much longer that’s going to be.
Hopefully this means we will get it sooner rather than later!
The year after she said this she also came out and said that she had spoken to Kevin Feige, who is in charge of everything Marvel, and the talks were ‘positive’. Thank you to Chris Evans for confirming that this project is still on track for a film release in the near future.
