It’s been confirmed that Sucker Punch Productions’ incredible 2020 hit, Ghost of Tsushima, is getting the movie treatment.
The news comes from Deadline, where it’s reported that Sony and PlayStation Productions are developing the flick with John Wick’s Chad Stahelski set to direct the project.
Stahelski, Alex Young and Jason Spitz will all be producing the movie through their shared company, 87Eleven Entertainment. Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan will also be producing, this time on behalf of PlayStation Productions.
Game developer Sucker Punch Productions will be on board as Executive Producer, meaning we’ll hopefully be getting an experience true to the spirit of the games.
“We’re excited to be partnering with Chad and 87Eleven Entertainment, to bring their vision of Jin’s story to the big screen. We love working with creative partners like Chad, who have a passion for our games, ensuring we can create rich adaptations that will excite our fans and new audiences,” said Head of PlayStation Productions, Asad Qizilbash.
It’s definitely welcome news for fans of the samurai adventure, and it marks yet another Sony exclusive game getting a slice of silver screen action.
Beloved Sony IP Uncharted will be making its way into cinemas soon, with the flick starring Spider-Man actor, Tom Holland, as a young Nathan Drake.
As for the Ghost of Tsushima movie, director Stahelski is reportedly about to begin filming John Wick 4, so it’s not clear when we could expect to see more details on the project. A safe bet would say it’s a good few years away yet! But hey, at least we know it’s coming!
