The team at Cyberpunk 2077 have taken to Twitter to issue a warning over scam emails relating to the upcoming game.
According to the tweets, there’s been an increase in the number of emails inviting gamers to take part in a non-existent Cyberpunk 2077 beta, as a means of presumably collecting their data and/or hacking them.
The official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account warned users not to fall for these scams, writing: “f you recently received an email claiming to be granting you beta access to Cyberpunk 2077, it’s not from us. Unfortunately, there have been more of these being sent out over the past few weeks. When we contact you via email, it’ll always come from @ cdprojektred com address.”
They continued: “Same goes for content creators. We always reach out directly from @ cdprojektred com domain. If you are being contacted by a third party claiming to be working with us (an ad agency for example), you can assume it’s not genuine.”
If you received such an email, stay wary!
The account also went on to confirm that there are no plans for an open beta of the game, which might be some sad news for a lot of you out there.
Speaking of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red hasn’t given us an update on multiplayer for a while now, and it’s hoped that the multiplayer content is still on track to launch as planned, sometime after 2021.
During a Q and A earlier this year, board member Michal Nowakowski said the multiplayer mode is being worked on alongside the main game, though it’s still a few years from release.

“In terms of multiplayer, one thing we need to make clear is that the AAA release we’re working on in parallel with CP2077 is Cyberpunk multiplayer – so that’s the first thing to say, and I think Adam was alluding that things are gonna be moving,” he said.
“So, given the expected release of Cyberpunk 2077 in September and the series of events which we expect to occur after that date, 2021 appears unlikely as the release date for Cyberpunk multiplayer.”
Seeing as these remarks were made pre-COVID, we can only expect further delays to the multiplayer.
