The developers at BluePoint Games and FromSoftware have shown off the new and improved Demon’s Souls Character Creator. The release of Demon’s Souls on PlayStation 5 is nearly upon us and we couldn’t be more excited!
A character creation suite is nothing new in FromSoftware titles. Despite coming with an array of customisation options, created characters never looked all that great (in my opinion). Bloodborne was the only exception to this, of course.
Even Dark Souls 3, which primarily released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, wasn’t as advanced as creation suites seen in other RPG’s. But it seems that the Demon’s Souls Character Creator is being taken to a whole new level. A PlayStation Blog post shares even more detail…
Gavin Moore, the Creative Director at SIE Worldwide Studio explains that “To create your character as you see fit is to build an emotional connection to the world of Demon’s Souls.”
“Together you will face the same fears and overcome the same challenges.”
So, in a nutshell, the developers want you to create a character that you will become attached to. Just to see them die over and over again, in typical FromSoftware fashion.
The Character Creator is more advanced on the PlayStation 5 compared to the 2009 original game on PS3. This customisation suite features up-to 16 million permutations. So don’t worry, you’ll never run out of options! Feel free to prove us wrong and show us your best customisations though.
The developers want “the limits of that personal expression to go far beyond just what weapons or armour you’ve equipped.”
“We hope to have far more freedom to craft your avatar – combined with the vast improvement in detail and visual fidelity”.
What Else Is Coming To Demon’s Souls?
In the same blog post, details of the Demon’s Souls Photo Mode were also revealed. These include screen filters that resemble the original PS3 game, that will allow players to “immortalize your triumphs and tragedies”.
The Demon’s Souls remake will be a PlayStation 5 launch title on November 12th in North America and Australia. The rest of the world can play on November 19th.
