Diablo 4 Battle Pass & Seasons – Everything We Know

With Diablo 4 fast approaching, Blizzard have spoken more about the game’s Battle Pass, season format and shop content. Here’s what we know.

Diablo 4 is set to launch worldwide on June 6 and with another beta weekend taking place this week, we are on the homestretch. To celebrate this, Blizzard have released more information in a recent blog post.

Diablo 4 Seasons

As with previous games in the Diablo series, the fourth instalment will also be split into seasons. However, these seasons – which are split into quarters – will only be accessible once you have completed the main campaign.

Each season will include new features, quest lines, cosmetics and balance changes. You can access all this through the ‘Season Journey’ tab which shows you which objectives will make you gain xp quickest. Objectives will earn you Seasonal rewards such as Crafting Materials and Legendary Aspects for your Codex of Power.

Season 1 will kick off in “mid to late July” which gives players enough time to finish the campaign.

“Seasons will introduce fresh concepts and ideas into the world of Sanctuary, for all wanderers to enjoy while simultaneously iterating upon your baseline experience,” says Blizzard.

How the battle pass will work

Each season will feature a new Battle Pass which will include 27 free tiers and 63 premium tiers.

The free tier will reward you with cosmetics and Smoldering Ashes (used to purchase Season Blessings which give a bonus to XP, Gold or Obols).

For those who wish to stick with the free tier, Blizzard assures that the premium tiers “will not provide any in-game power” so you won’t be at a disadvantage. They will however include unique cosmetics.

The premium Battle Pass will cost 1000 Platinum (Diablo 4’s premium currency which can be bought with real money). This is the equivalent to around $9.99. For an accelerated Battle Pass that skips 20 tiers and rewards you with a ‘special cosmetic’, you will be expected to cough up 2800 Platinum ($24.99).

The Shop

Cosmetics will be available in the Diablo 4 shop for Platinum and will rotate regularly. Again, Blizzard makes sure to point out that shop items only provide aesthetics and will not affect gameplay.

“The Shop is intended to be an avenue of self-expression for our players, and they can interact with it as much or as little as they desire during their time in Sanctuary,” the post reads.
