The Elder Scrolls 6 will be played for decades, claims Bethesda chief, Todd Howard. Teasing fans of its sheer scope and size.
Ever since the release of The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind in 2002, Bethesda’s legendary action RPG series has offered some of the most immersive and deep worlds the genre has to offer. Take for example Skyrim. It’s been over 10 years since that game launched and it’s still arguably as popular as ever.
Could we play The Elder Scrolls 6 for decades?
So, it should come as no surprise that Todd Howard hopes that gamers will be playing The Elder Scrolls 6 for decades. Well, in fact, Howard suggested that we could be playing for two decades. However, even by The Elder Scrolls standards, two decades does feel like a stretch.
When talking on the Lex Fridman podcast, Howard said: “We’re going to make sure we do it right for everybody…people are playing games for a long time, you know Skyrim’s 11 years old – still probably our most played game, and so we don’t see it slowing down.”
He continued: “people will probably be playing it 10 years from now also, so you have to think…people are going to play the next Elder Scrolls game for decades, two decades, and that does change the way you think about how you architect it from the get-go.”
When does Todd Howard believe The Elder Scrolls 6 will be released?
Announced back in 2018, it’s been over four years since The Elder Scrolls 6 was revealed to the world with a teaser trailer. Yet, to this day, we’re no closer to knowing when it will be released. However, during the same podcast, Howard also told Fridman that he wished TES6 would arrive “soon”.
