The PlayStation 5 is coming soon and if you’re still unsure about whether or not you’re going to be picking up a console on day one, then we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know about the PlayStation 5 (and the PS5 Digital Edition).
Models
Sony has confirmed two next-generation PlayStation consoles: the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition. The main difference between the two (aside from their price) is the fact the Digital version doesn’t have a disc drive. If you prefer physical games, the main PS5 will be what you’re after.
Sony explains: “Both PS5 models use the same custom processor with integrated CPU and GPU for high-fidelity graphics up to 4K, as well as the same ultra-high speed SSD with integrated I/O that will deliver lightning-fast loading.”

Games
A number of PlayStation first party titles and exclusives have already been revealed outside of the third party titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Here’s everything we have confirmed so far.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Launch title. “This standalone game lets players experience the rise of Miles Morales as he discovers new powers that set him apart from his mentor, Peter Parker.” The game can also be purchased in a deluxe edition which will include 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man.
Demon’s Souls. Launch title. “From JAPAN Studio and Bluepoint Games comes a remake of the PlayStation classic, Demon’s Souls™. Entirely rebuilt from the ground up and masterfully enhanced, this remake invites you to experience the unsettling story and ruthless combat of Demon’s Souls in unparalleled visual quality and incredible performance. Coming to PlayStation 5.”
Astro’s Playroom. Launch title. “Astro and his crew lead you on a magical introduction through PS5 in this fun platformer that comes pre-loaded on PS5. Explore four worlds, each based on PS5’s console components. Each area showcases innovative gameplay that taps into the new features of the PS5’s DualSense wireless controller.”
Sackboy A Big Adventure. Launch title. Release date 2020. “Iconic PlayStation hero, Sackboy returns in an all-new 3D adventure with a deeply immersive and expressive control scheme. Players can go on this epic platforming journey solo-style, or they can team up with friends for collaborative, chaotic multiplayer fun.”
Godfall. Launch title. “Aperion is on the precipice of ruin. You are the last of the Valorian knights, god-like warriors able to equip Valorplates, legendary armor sets that transform wielders into unstoppable masters of melee combat. Tear through foes as you climb through the elemental realms and challenge the mad god, Macros who awaits you at the top. Ascend in Godfall, the first-of-its-kind, looter-slasher, melee action-RPG.”

Untitled God of War game. Release date 2021. We’ve seen just a teaser for this, with no title or synopsis announced as of yet.
Final Fantasy XVI. Release date unknown. “‘The legacy of the crystals has shaped our history for long enough…’FINAL FANTASY XVI is the next all-new standalone single player action RPG from Square Enix, coming to PlayStation 5.”
Horizon Forbidden West. Release date 2021. “Horizon Forbidden West continues Aloy’s story as she moves west to a far-future America to brave a majestic, but dangerous frontier where she’ll face awe-inspiring machines and mysterious new threats.”
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. Release date unknown. “Ratchet and Clank find themselves at odds with their archnemesis, Dr. Nefarious. Only this time, he’s equipped with the dangerous Dimensionator, a device with the power to travel to other dimensions. The duo fights their way through an army of hired Goons in Megalopolis until something happens and they are ripped apart. Where are they now? “
Gran Turismo 7. Release date unknown. “Gran Turismo™ 7 builds on 22 years of experience to bring you the best features from the history of the franchise. Whether you’re a competitive racer, collector, fine-tuning builder, livery designer, photographer or arcade fan – ignite your personal passion for cars with features inspired by the past, present and future of Gran Turismo™.”
Project Athia. Release date unknown. “Project Athia is the culmination of Luminous Productions’ philosophy to create a completely new and fresh gaming experiences that fuses together the latest technologies with art. With the PlayStation 5, their vision truly comes to life, and with Project Athia you can look forward to being transported to a vast and detailed world filled with beauty and dismay.’”
Returnal. Release date 2021. “Returnal combines action with roguelike gameplay into a third-person shooter where players fight to survive a hostile planet that changes with every death. Players can switch instinctively between firing modes by using a single adaptive trigger and can get right back into the action after dying. PS5’s immersive 3D audio brings the alien world to life around the player, helping players navigate the intense positional combat.”
Destruction AllStars. Launch title. “Dominate the glittering global phenomenon of Destruction AllStars – the spectacular prime-time sport for dangerous drivers! Master the art of intense vehicle-based combat through timing, tactics and skills to cause colossal amounts of damage, destruction and devastation in vibrant arenas across the globe.” Originally a launch title Destruction AllStars is due for release in 2021, where it will be part of PS+ at launch.
Release Date & Price
Both editions of PS5 will roll out in select markets including North America and Japan on November 12, followed by Europe and additional regions on November 19.
The PS5 Digital Edition will be available for a recommended retail price (RRP) of £359.99 GBP/$399.99 USD, and PS5 with an Ultra HD Blu-ray™ disc drive will be available for an RRP of £449.99 GBP/$499.99 USD.
