Fallout Is Suing Warner Bros For Ripping Them Off

Bethesda is suing Warner Bros after the latter released a new game that ‘clones’ their Fallout Shelter game, and even uses the same code.

Polygon reports that a suit was filed in a Maryland U.S. District Court. Bethesda alleges that Westworld, developed by Behaviour and released this week for Android and iOS, “has the same or highly similar game design, art style, animations, features and other gameplay elements” as their game.

They continued: “Behaviour breached its contract with Bethesda and utilised its restricted access to Bethesda’s intellectual property, including Bethesda’s copyrighted code, trade secrets, and other rights, to compress its development timeline, reduce costs, and quickly bring the Westworld mobile game to market, and offer players the widely popular gameplay experience found in Fallout Shelter.”

They also reckon that Behaviour used the “same copyrighted computer code” as their own game.

They also added that it “has the same or highly similar game design, art style, animations, features and other gameplay elements”

Bethesda is suing for copyright infringement, breach of contract and misappropriating trade secrets. They are seeking a jury trial and damages.

Hmm. What do you think?

While we’re on the subject, Bethesda has released a brand-new trailer regarding Fallout 76 – and we finally get a look at some of the new creatures.

There are ankle-high spiderbots, giant toads, and even the Beast of Grafton – which is a creature from Virginia’s folklore.

Bethesda wrote on YouTube: “All-new graphics, lighting and landscape technology brings to life six distinct West Virginia regions. Watch Welcome to West Virginia, featured during the Bethesda E3 Showcase, to get a look at the newest location in Fallout. https://fallout.com

This comes as Bethesda Softworks Vice President Pete Hines explained exactly how the brand-new nukes will work in the game.

In an interview with FZ.se, he said that players “can’t nuke each other” but they will be able to “nuke a specific part of the world”.

If you’re unfortunate enough to be somewhere that a nuke is heading, you don’t need to worry too much. He continued: “When a nuke is coming in on an area of the map, the people there will get notified. So, you can stand there and not do anything, but you could also get the hell out of the way and then you won’t get nuked.”

We couldn’t be more excited to try this game. However, according to an official statement the beta version will only be available on Xbox One initially.

Bethseda wrote on its website: “Do you have nerves of steel? An ironclad will? Average hygiene and an affinity for pre-packaged goods? Then Vault-Tec WANTS you! If you think you have what it takes to be a B.E.T.A. tester – and enjoy prolonged confinement without sunlight – then you’re in luck! Join the proud ranks of Vault 76 today.”

In a recently updated FAQ, Bethesda said the beta for Xbox One will launch first, followed by other platforms PlayStation 4 and PC.
