Fans Recreate GTA: San Andreas With Photorealistic Graphics

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is perhaps one of the best games in the series, but diving back into the 2004 release in 2020 definitely shows off its age. Thankfully, we can at least get to see the game looking its best thanks to the hardworking GTA fans at ArcadiaSquad.

Three pals Santiago Ibarra, Fabian Álvarez and Juan David Góngora have been hard at work recreating San Andreas using Unreal Engine 4, giving the game a much-needed revamp with gorgeous photorealistic results.

In the video below, you can see the sprawling environments of San Andreas like never before, in what’s a true love letter to the iconic Rockstar Games title.

In the video description, ArcadiaSquad explains a little more about the prototype and where it’s heading in the future.

“The idea of GTA SA UE4 born 4 years ago wanting to revolutionize the way of making GTA SA machinimas, so GTA SA Star Wars UE4 was made,” explains the team.

“The problem is that we were still limited by not having the entire map, until now, we finally managed to recreate the entire world of GTA SA in Unreal Engine and here is the result. We worked very hard on this, it was already 1 year ago that we officially started the project, and we went through different phases, here you can see a Beta.”

Sadly the trio’s hard work isn’t likely to be playable for the masses, as the team have explained that it’s the machinimas that have been worked on here.

“We want to remember that this is not a remake of the game, we did it to create machinimas, there is another project from another developer dedicated to making a playable GTA remake, we share his channel to support him. He is doing a great work!”
