Football Manager 2020 Is Latest Game To Go Free To Play

As more and more people across the globe find themselves staying at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, video games are becoming a huge source of comfort. Thankfully, a number of game developers and publishers are providing us with what we all need right now: some free games, and Football Manager 2020 is just the latest to go free to play.

As revealed by the game’s official Twitter account, Football Manager will be available to play at no cost for a whole week.

The company said: “If you’re finding that you’ve got a little more time on your hands than normal just now, we might have a way for you to fill those free hours. Football Manager 2020 is free on Steam for the next week, starting at 3:00pm (GMT) on Wednesday March 18th and ending at 3:00pm (GMT) on Wednesday March 25th…

“This free access only applies to the PC/Mac game (on Steam) and it will only be playable free-of-charge until the week has expired. After this, you can continue your journey by purchasing at any time as your career progress will be saved in either your Documents folder or the Steam Cloud.”

If Football Manager doesn’t float your boat then how about a free weekend of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey?

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be playable for free from Thursday, March 19, to Sunday, March 22 across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

The free weekend will give you access to the entire base game but doesn’t include any DLC chapters. If you get so engrossed in the world of the game and decide to purchase it, your save data from the trial period will be carried over. Hooray!

Announcing the news, Ubisoft writes: “Play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey for Free March 19-22, 2020 on the Xbox One, Xbox One X, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC. Players can pre-load the game on the PlayStation 4 and Uplay starting today. During the Free Weekend you’ll get access to the full main game content.

“Any progression made during the Free Weekend will carry over when you upgrade to the full game on the same platform. But wait, there’s more. By playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey during the Free Weekend from March 19 to March 22, all players will unlock the Ezio’s Roman Set through Ubisoft Club.”

More games are expected to offer free trial periods as self-isolation becomes more and more prevalent.
