Funko has angered its fans with the unveiling of its new character line. Whether you love or hate the company’s Funko POP! collectables, this one might just get your blood boiling if the reaction on Twitter is anything to go by…
Last week, Funko tweeted: “Here’s a closer look at our #FunkoShop exclusive Spastik Plastik Pop!s Big Al and T-Bone! Find them now on Funko Shop.”

Twitter has lashed out against the name of the line, which uses a UK/Australian derogatory term to refer to those with disabilities.

Though some Twitter users gave Funko the benefit of the doubt on its very surprising choice of name, others were quick to attack Funko for its decision.
Same meaning in the US so dunno about that doubt!

One user branded the name as “horribly insensitive,” whilst another added: “I for one would not want to buy something that had a name used to abuse me in the title.”

What a horribly insensitive name for a line of collectibles

Funko has yet to respond to the outrage from its fans, and the product is still available on its website, where “Spastik Plastik Big AL” has the following description:

“This dapper alligator has a taste for the finer things in life whether that’s the perfect martini or a festive holiday. Wearing a cheerful fez and bowtie, this Funko Shop limited edition Spastik Plastik Big Al Pop! is the perfect holiday guest.”
Here’s hoping Funko comments on the situation sooner rather than later…
