Nintendo’s Game Builder Garage is an awesome tool that makes fan games on the Switch a reality. So, naturally, it comes as no surprise that someone has managed to use the kit to recreate mini-games from Super Mario Party. However, that doesn’t make the project any less impressive! [via Screenrant].
Created by Brazillian game dev André Cardoso, the project emulates three Super Mario Party minigames with ridiculous accuracy. While Super Mario Party has been met with criticism, the title’s mini-game elements have been praised. Therefore, it’s easy to see why Cardoso would want to recreate the experience in Game Builder Garage.
So, which minigames did Cardoso actually decide to create? Well, the dev decided to pluck Bopping Spree, Fuzzy Flight School and Sizzling Stakes out of a possible 80. The dev has also outlined exactly how they managed to recreate the games in a YouTube video, which covers the objects and logic trees used.
Of course, just like any other Game Builder Garage creation, the project features assets specific to the creation suite. However, despite uncanny appearances, the actual gameplay and mechanics of the recreated minigames are pretty on point.
Ultimately, Cardoso’s fan-made game is a testament to the power of Game Builder Garage and the creativity it facilitates. While other projects like Mr Tiffles’ version of DOOM or Zeldaboi’s remake of F-Zero are already proof of Game Builder Garage’s worth, there’s something special about Cardoso’s Mario Party efforts. Hopefully, the dev’s creation inspires more Game Builder Garage players to recreate specific elements of their favourite games alongside their unique mechanics.
