Netflix’s The Witcher is gearing up for its second season, and rumour says we could be seeing a very familiar face from the world of Game of Thrones.
Redanian Intelligence, a website known for revealing all things The Witcher, recently spied a very telling Instagram post that suggests we might be seeing none other than Tormund Giantsbane showing up for The Witcher season two.
The Witcher director, Stephen Surjik, is reportedly scouting out locations for the next season of the show, and he including a VERY interesting hashtag in one of his more recent – now deleted – posts.
Tagging a photo with the show’s stars Henry Cavill and Anya Chalotra, Surjik also tagged another actor: Kristofer Hivju, who played fan-favourite Game of Thrones character, Tormund.
The fact that the post has now been deleted might be down to the speculation fuelled by the mention of Hivju, or it might be something else entirely.
The rumour doesn’t just end there though, as GamesRadar reports that one of Hivju’s most-recent new followers on Instagram is none other than – yep, you guessed it – the official Insta account for Netflix’s The Witcher.
As always, take the rumour with a pinch of salt for now, but this is looking like a pretty big coincidence. Maybe someone over at The Witcher show is just a big fan of Hivju and his work? Or maybe we’ll be seeing the actor step into the world of The Witcher come 2021.
Filming for the next series has not yet officially begun, though Netflix has confirmed the show has been renewed for a season two.
Personally, Hivju was a stand-out actor in the HBO series, and I’d love to see him don his furs for another epic fantasy adventure.
The Witcher season one is currently available to stream worldwide, via Netflix.
