Insomniac Games has revealed new info on the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man remaster – a game, which will be included with the PS5 Spider-Man Miles Morales: Ultimate Edition. One of the most surprising changes in the remaster is the fact that Peter Parker has a brand new face.

Coming as a surprise to most fans, Insomniac revealed that a new face model was recruited for the remaster, meaning that Peter looks almost unrecognisable.
“In order to bring the best performances to players with our next-generation Marvel’s Spider-Man games, we have recast the face of Peter Parker,” says Insomniac over on the PlayStation blog.

“We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri’s moving performances take on a new life.”
Naturally, the move has divided the fan base, with many calling for Insomniac to can the new look for Spidey.
One fan tweeted: “John was (and still is) A PART OF PETER within #SpiderManPS4. The multitude of mannerisms that he brought is what made him so lovable & unique in the first place. Taking that away from the newer version will make it feel like a totally different character. #BringBackBubniak“
Not everyone is displeased with the new face of Parker though. Many have praised the improved graphics and are more than hyped for the new release.
“I think the redesign for Peter Parker by @insomniacgames in Spider-Man Remastered looks great,” tweeted one gamer. “Redesigns of beloved characters happen all the time.”
Whether you’re a fan or not, it’s likely that this new face will feature in the next Spider-Man game, so it might to time to say goodbye to the Peter Parker we saw in 2018’s Spider-Man. (Though just to clarify, only the face model has changed).
