Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series is the cash cow that keeps on giving, and GTA Online is no exception.
Even more records have just been destroyed by the online game, making it one of the most lucrative and popular games under Rockstar’s belt.
Players of GTA Online flocked to the servers following the game’s latest update, which saw the addition of everything from penthouses to the highly-anticipated Diamond Casino.
The free update saw the biggest number of players log in since the the online game launched back in October 2013.
The developer and publisher recently told The Hollywood Reporter that the new update saw the biggest player numbers for a single day on July 23, and for a single week from July 23 to July 29, since the game first launched.
Although the company declined to give any exact figures for the successes, it’s a huge accomplishment for a game that’s now half a decade old.

Announcing the latest update earlier this summer, Rockstar said: “The massive construction project on the corner of Vinewood Park Drive and Mirror Park Boulevard is nearing completion, radically changing the skyline of Los Santos forever.
“When the brand-new Diamond Casino & Resort opens its doors, one and all are welcome inside to visit, or to stay in the most luxurious residence in the entire state.
“More than just a place to let go of your inhibitions and your sense of the passage of time, The Diamond is the one-stop destination for quality entertainment, high-end living and a range of entertainment experiences you won’t find anywhere else.”
Let’s hope that Red Dead Redemption 2‘s online component, Red Dead Online, will be just as popular as GTA’s in five years’ time!
