Square Enix has announced Harvestella, a brand new title that blends Stardew Valley style gameplay with RPG adventuring.
Yesterday, June 28, Nintendo showed off a number of new titles at its Nintendo Direct Mini. It was entirely partner focused, so only showed off games from other publishers and developers. And one such game was Harvestella, which looks like it will make the venn diagram of Stardew Valley and Final Fantasy fans quite happy.
In Harvestella, players will be able to plant and grow crops to their heart’s content. It looks like players will also be able to use their materials to make other food items, like a vegetable muffin that was shown off in the debut trailer.
Not only will you be able to start your own little farm, but you can head off on some classic RPG adventures too. Here, you can gather more materials for growing and cooking. The world looks pretty big too, with a range of towns to explore and discover.
what’s the story in harvestella?
“Harvestella is set in a vibrant and colourful world where four giant crystals called “Seaslight” create a stable change between the four seasons,” reads a press release. “The adventure begins as abnormalities in the Seaslight begin to appear, creating the “Quietus,” a season of death that takes place between the naturally occurring four seasons.“
The season of death sounds pretty intense, and that it will play a major role in how you’re able to grow your crops. It also seems like it will be a bit more grand than the simple farm life we’ve come to expect from Stardew Valley.
More in depth details will likely come at a later date, but for now it’s looking like an exciting new take on the life sim genre. Harvestella is currently set to launch November 4, 2022. And it will be available on both Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
Sounds like this will keep us going while we wait for Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe’s next game Haunted Chocolatier.
