Hunt: Showdown is getting a brand new enemy type called pistol grunts, and it sounds like they might really be changing things up.
Developer Crytek shared a developer update live stream earlier this week (April 20), giving players a taste of what’s coming in update 1.8.1 for Hunt: Showdown. At the moment there’s no set date as to when the update is coming. But it does bring in a range of changes. For one, there’s the new daily quest system. The new quest system provides a variety of challenges, like killing a specific enemy or collecting clues. And once players have done so, they’ll earn rewards.
Perhaps more worrisome for Hunt: Showdown players are the two new types of enemies that can be found. Pistol grunts are literal zombies with a pistol. Thankfully, they use them as a melee weapon. But if a player gets hit, the gun does have a chance to fire. It doesn’t do any additional damage, but the noise could draw in other players or grunts.
There are also the new lantern grunts, which are a touch more actively dangerous. The lanterns can be lit or unlit, and if a player gets hit by one they will be covered in oil and set alight. Being hit by one when it’s unlit just means you get coated in oil. But that does increase the risk of getting set on fire later.
This new update will certainly shake things up a bit for players, so keep your eyes peeled for the new grunts.
