It’s not often you see a Grammy winning band, Imagine Dragons, pivot to game dev, but Night Street Games is doing things differently with this 5v5 shooter. The indie studio founded by Dan and Mac Reynolds has officially opened the doors to its first title, and it looks like a chaotic good time.
Think of Last Flag as a hero based shooter meets a televised competition from the 1970s. The core loop is a classic Capture the Flag.
Two teams of five battle to hide their own flag while hunting down the enemy’s. Once you snag it and run it back, the real stress starts you have to defend it for a full minute to bank the win.
Mac Reynolds says the idea came from their childhood, explaining, “We grew up playing Capture The Flag in the woods at night. I’ve thought about that experience a lot over the years.”
If you are wondering how involved the Imagine Dragons singer actually is, the answer is: very! Dan Reynolds didn’t just put his name on the door. He composed the original soundtrack, voiced characters, and even drew the original rough sketches for the heroes for the 5v5 shooter.
“It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever done,” Dan said about the project. “I’m making the whole soundtrack, I’m doing voices… and then we brought in really great artists to make everything way better than I could possibly ever do.” Imagine Dragons said about the 5v5 shooter.
The open beta is live right now on Steam and runs until March 2. It is a good chance to get on early, especially since the full release isn’t slated until late 2026.
