It’s been a hot minute since we last heard about the upcoming John Wick television series, but don’t worry because it’s definitely still happening…apparently.
Named after the Continental Hotel seen in the movies, the show is apparently a prequel that’ll explore how the hotel chain came to be the breeding ground for assassins that we know and love.

The Continental is being developed by Starz, and the company’s CEO Jeffrey Hirsch recently opened up about the show during the Television Critics Association tour.
Hirsch doesn’t seem confident that we’ll be seeing the series before we get the next John Wick movie, John Wick 4, which is due to release in 2021.

Hirsch said [via Deadline]: “My sense is that where we are today, the movie date has been set but we’re still in early development on the series so [it will air] most likely after.”
Of course the only thing we all want to know is whether or not Keanu Reeves will be reprising the role of Mr. Wick for the show.
Sadly, it doesn’t seem like we can expect more than a cameo at best, as the TV series doesn’t bear the John Wick moniker and, y’know, it’s a prequel based on the hotel.
When asked, Hirsch said: “That’s a really good question that I’m not going to answer. No answer is as good a tease you’re going to get,

“It’s a great franchise, we’re excited about bringing that show to the network.”
Not having Reeves would be a bit of a blow for the series, as you have to wonder how successful a John Wick spin-off can be if there’s no John Wick in it.
But hey, if there’s dogs in it then I’ll be happy.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum lands on Digital on August 23rd. It’ll be followed by a 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, and On Demand release on September 10th, 2019.
