Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Remaster Coming This Summer

It’s safe to say that Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning didn’t make too much of a splash when it launched back in 2012. The general consensus was that the action RPG did what it said on the tin, but there’s wasn’t too much spark to the adventure. However, Amalur has developed a bit of a cult following over the years, and it looks like a remaster is heading our way.

THQ Nordic’s acquired the brand back in 2018 and, according to a listing spotted on the Microsoft Store, a remaster is on the cards.

The listing states that Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will release on August 11, 2020. The game’s description reads as follows:

“The hit RPG returns! From the minds of the bestselling author R.A. Salvatore, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion lead designer Ken Rolston, comes Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. Remastered with stunning visuals and refined gameplay Re-Reckoning delivers intense, customizable RPG combat inside a sprawling game world.”

EA first published Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning in 2012. Shortly after, the developer, 38 Studios, closed its doors following bankruptcy. The Amalur brand went to auction in 2013, but failed to secure a buyer. Then, in 2018, THQ Nordic acquired the IP.

Thanks to its solid mechanics and world design, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning boasts an impressive 9/10, “Very Positive,” score on Steam, suggesting a remaster is going to be good news for lots of gamers out there!

Although it’s yet to be officially announced, it’s safe to say we can expect a reveal in the coming weeks. August 11th is right around the corner, after all!
