Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Xbox cover says it’s the “best-selling franchise on PlayStation”. However, is this a typo?
As shared by the Call of Duty Twitter fan account, CharlieINTEL, a photo of a retail copy of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was shared on the CoD subreddit.
Moreover, the retail copy in question quite clearly advertises the Call of Duty series on PlayStation.
To be fair, Call of Duty is a “best-selling franchise” on PlayStation
From what we can tell, this apparent typo seems to be related to copies of the game in Canada with English and French translations.
Furthermore, residents of Canada have also confirmed this typo to be legit.
“I work at a store who has a bunch and yep,” said Twitter user DeleteNero.

This apparent typo is particularly interesting given the war between Sony and Microsoft over the rights of the Call of Duty franchise.
This is in relation to Microsoft’s pending acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
We don’t believe that the “best-selling franchise on PlayStation” comment on the Xbox cover for Modern Warfare 2 is intended to taunt the Sony brand.
It is more than likely a typo or mistranslation. That being said, it is still kind of funny.
In related news, it’s been revealed that the PS5 physical copy disc only contains 70MB of data!
Which begs the question, what is the point of buying Modern Warfare 2 in its physical form on PS5, when all you’re buying is essentially an installer?
