Calling all old-school arcade game buffs, one of the OGs is reportedly getting a shiny Netflix make-over, and Ryan Reynolds is apparently already on board for the project.
For anyone who doesn’t know what Dragon’s Lair is, the game was first released in the 80s and a staple in arcades due to it being one of the ‘best-looking’ animated games of its time.
It spawned a few sequels and changed the dynamics of arcade gaming due to its colourful designs, and even recently received a heartfelt mention on the Netflix show Stranger Things.
Netflix has been working on getting the rights to Dragon’s Lair for over a year, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who also reports that Ryan Reynolds is set to star in the film adaptation and produce too. Original Dragon’s Lair creator and well-known animator, Don Bluth, will also be a producer on the film.
Obviously, at this time there is no set date to when we’ll see the film come to fruition, but it’s likely to be an interesting concept to see come to life. Especially if Ryan Reynolds is at the helm.
Video game adaptations seem to be doing very well at the moment, so it’s no wonder that Netflix are hoping to capitalise even more on the space they’ve been dominating – hopefully emulating the success they’ve seen from The Witcher and more.

Plus, I imagine Ryan would make a pretty interesting Dirk the Daring. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see when more information becomes available about the upcoming adaptation.
