New Lord Of The Rings Game Announced By WB Games

A new Lord of the Rings game has been announced by WB Games, and it’s likely to be a firm favourite for fans of the Peter Jackson trilogy. The Lord of the Rings: Rise To War promises to feature some of the best characters and locations from the movies, and will be set in the Third Age of Middle Earth.

Sadly, Rise To War won’t be coming to console or PC, but at least the mobile title will be able to deliver you to Middle Earth when you’re away from home (if “away from home” even exists anymore).

Sharing the announcement across social media, WB Games said the following: “We are pleased to announce our collaboration with NetEase, Inc. on the mobile game development of The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War. Set in the Third Age of Middle-earth, this latest mobile strategy game will feature iconic characters and locations from the original trilogy.”

The announcement was met with some criticism, but hey, this is 2020 and mobile games have moved on from Candy Crush. There’s some excellent titles available from the comfort of your phone, and I’m super hyped for a new LOTR adventure.

In related news, filming for Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series is expected to once again resume. COVID-19 saw production in New Zealand grind to a halt, but it’s now believed to be getting back up and running.

It’s reported that the show will resume filming in September of this year. Since we haven’t yet gotten too many details on the upcoming series, it’s not clear just how much damage the delays have done in terms of the journey to the screen.

Meanwhile, a new Gollum-focused PC and console game is scheduled to launch in 2021.
