2018 saw a pretty undeniable leak that suggested a Harry Potter RPG is in the works. Since the original leak, it’s been claimed the game was aiming for an E3 2020 reveal before the convention got cancelled. It’s now early summer, and an official reveal could be happening at any time.
Official word on the game may be non-existent, but eagle-eyed gamers have spotted a potential clue to its being, courtesy of Avalanche Software. The company, which is rumoured to be working on the game, recently uploaded a photo to their website, which has fans zooming and enhancing.
While at first glance nothing seems amiss, it appears as though a Harry Potter book can be seen in the photo, leading gamers to believe the reveal is right around the corner. As spotted by TheGamer, a Reddit thread has revealed the book to be the official Harry Potter Character Vault Book, which shows detailed character artwork from the movies.

Earlier this year, a job listing at Avalanche Software, which is owned by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, showed the team is working on a AAA title that will “soon be announced.”
The listing read as follows: “Avalanche Software, a WB Games studio, seeks a Lighting Technical Artist to work closely with a talented group of artists and engineers on an exciting, soon to be announced AAA title.”
The original gameplay leak from 2018 bore the following (unverified) description: “Set in the 19th Century (1800’s) Wizarding World, this 3rd person open-world action RPG game centers around your character with unique abilities who has eared [sic] a late acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
“You are a newly arrived 5th year student to Hogwarts that demonstrates a latent gift for magic with a unique ability to track and identify remnants of a pottant [sic] ancient power.
“Upon arrival, strange events begin to materialize In the Forbidden Forrest [sic] and trouble begins o [sic] brew within the castle walls.”
The leak remains unverified, but hopefully we’ll hear more on the project sooner rather than later!
