PewDiePie Has Been Banned From Twitch

Well-known content creator and social media personality PewDiePie has been banned from Twitch. Here’s what we know so far.

Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, aka PewDiePie, is one of the most popular content creators online. Amassing over 100 million subscribers on Youtube makes him one of the most well-known on the site behind T-Series (241 million) and MrBeast (151 million) to name a few.

However, PewDiePie recently turned his attention to the streaming site Twitch. That was until he was banned this week.

PewDiePie Has Been Banned From Twitch

Streaming site Twitch sees users go live to stream their content to a live audience. This can see them playing video games, streaming real life events, hosting cooking streams or even ‘just sleeping’ streams. However, with the key theme being ‘live’ content, PewDiePie took an unusual approach.

The Youtube personality made a comeback to Twitch recently when he streamed an endless loop of his older Youtube footage. Although this isn’t the aim of Twitch, it isn’t strictly against terms of service and is a way of making easy money on the platform. Especially for PewDiePie who has over 1.5 million followers.

Reason for the ban

However, according to reports by Dexerto, his channel has now been banned as of May 8. As it stands, we are unsure why the ban has been implemented or if it even is a ban or a temporary suspension. It can be assumed that the cause of this was his version of ‘live-streaming’ although that has not been confirmed at the time of writing this article.

With some people confused as to why the Youtuber would make a grand return to Twitch without actually being there, it was later confirmed that CoPilotMedia had control of the account. However, it can be assumed that they were given permission by PewDiePie himself.

PewDiePie, who now lives in Japan and is expecting his first-child, has yet to comment on the ban.
