Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet Announced for Switch

Happy Pokemon Day folks! And what a way to celebrate – Game Freak and The Pokemon Company have just announced the next generation of Pokémon games. Hold on to your caps, Trainers – Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are coming to Nintendo Switch in late 2022.

Pokemon Day celebrates the anniversary of the franchise’s 1996 launch in Japan with Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green. The Pokémon Presents presentation on Sunday 27th February showed off an array of new Pokemon goodies for fans. I’m particularly excited for Oak’s Letter in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, as well as a new post-game extras for the critically-acclaimed Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Watch the trailer here!

There wasn’t much to go off, but these games appear to be the Generation 9 title. The game footage showed off an open-world, very similar to Pokemon Legends: Arceus. To me, this region looks like a blend of Kalos’ European cityscapes with Alola’s beachfront pastures. It seems to be taking inspiration from Spain. I’m particularly excited to see how the series takes inspiration from Legends Arceus going forward! Of course, take this with a pinch of salt until further gameplay trailers are shown.

And that’s not all! We also got a look at the three new Pokemon starters: a grass-type kitten, a fire-type alligator, and the water-type duck with a very dashing hat. with a fun hat.

According to Serebii.net, the English names for the new starters of Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly. I’m just scared of what that grass-type kitten is going to do to the Internet if its evolution turns out to be a Incineroar-style bipedal Pokemon. Behave yourselves.

Which starter are you leaning towards? Are you excited for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
