Pokémon Sword & Shield’s Wild Area Is ‘As Big As Two Regions From BOTW’

The launch of the next additions to everyone’s favourite Poké-franchise are right around the corner, and Pokémon Sword & Shield are two of the most highly-anticipated Nintendo Switch games of the year.

With less than a month until launch, Metro got to go hands-on with an exclusive preview of the titles, and we’ve definitely learned a lot from their review – especially when it comes to the Wild Area.

According to a Nintendo rep that spoke with the publication, [via GamesRadar] the Wild Area is where you’ll find a lot of the most exciting gameplay, and it’s actually a pretty big area to explore.

The rep states that the Wild Area is comparable to two combined regions from The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild. Although the rep didn’t clarify which two areas, it’s a safe bet to say that the Wild Area is going to be pretty huge – especially when compared to the size of other areas in the Pokémon franchise.

In related news, it’s been revealed that Pokémon Sword and Shield will be the first games in the whole series that’ll feature autosaving, but those looking for a more traditional experience can choose to turn it off.

“Traditionally in Pokémon games, it’s an important thing to write your report to record your save, and that’s always been a staple, like, ‘Remember to save your game!’ We do have an autosave feature this time, where you can just adventure and it’ll constantly save the game.”

Autosave will be on by default, but you’ll be able to turn it off and use manual saves if you want the true Pokémon experience.
