The remastered version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 hasn’t even hit store shelves yet it seems the man himself is already planning his next big moves in the world of video games.

In an interview with Game Informer [via Destructoid], the Birdman teased the future of the Pro Skater series, confessing that the upcoming revamp of 1 and 2 is just the beginning for the rebooted franchise.
“This is just the start,” Hawk told the publication. “With that baseline we’re hopefully going to be able to help remaster other titles, Pro Skater 3 and 4 even, and start to work on a new direction. That’s ultimately the goal for me.”

Although more Pro Skater remasters (or remakes) are a definite plus, I’m keen to hear more on this potential “new direction.” Does that mean a brand-new Pro Skater game could be on the cards? Only time will tell (and, I assume, the number of copies the remake/remaster sells will also play a part).
Meanwhile, 2020 is shaping up to be a great year for skateboard fans, as a new Tony Hawk documentary is also right around the corner. Entitled “Pretending I’m a Superman: The Tony Hawk Video Game Story,” the doc will explore the behind-the-scenes stories of 1999’s Tony Hawk Pro Skater.
The flick will star the pro skater himself, along with a bunch of familiar friends and faces from the skating world. Chad Muska, Steve Caballero, Jamie Thomas, and Rodney Mullen are just a few of the people who’ll be making an appearance, ensuring we’re getting a full and complete picture of how the game was made.
Pretending I’m a Superman: The Tony Hawk Video Game Story releases on August 18th across multiple streaming and VOD services.
As for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 remake, it’s set to land September 4, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
