It’s been over a year since the console launch of Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2, but the game is finally coming to Steam. The iconic wild west classic landed on the Rockstar Games client just a few weeks ago to pretty bad reception, but hopefully the Steam launch will be a little less rocky.
The PC version of the game has seen multiple patches after Rockstar issued an apology to players who’d been struggling with a myriad of bugs and tech problems.
If you’re able to get past all that (and hopefully you’ll be able to on Steam), the PC version of RDR2 is promising to give you the best possible experience – perfect if you’ve never played the game before.
The official description on the Steam Store reads as follows: “With all new graphical and technical enhancements for deeper immersion, Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC takes full advantage of the power of the PC to bring every corner of this massive, rich and detailed world to life including increased draw distances; higher quality global illumination and ambient occlusion for improved day and night lighting; improved reflections and deeper, higher resolution shadows at all distances; tessellated tree textures and improved grass and fur textures for added realism in every plant and animal.”
With HDR support plus “the ability to run high-end display setups with 4K resolution and beyond, multi-monitor configurations, widescreen configurations, faster frame rates and more,” this version of Red Dead 2 might have been worth the wait.
Additional content for the PC version includes: additional Story Mode content (such as Bounty Hunting Missions, Gang Hideouts, Weapons and more), plus free access to the shared living world of Red Dead Online.
The game releases on Dec 5, 2019. Check out Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam right here.
