Nvidia’s much anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2 DLSS update is now available on PC, and according to a recent demo, it’s a complete game-changer.

Now, before we get started, it’s probably worthwhile explaining what DLSS actually is. To put it simply, “Deep Learning Super Sampling” is a type of AI technology that can increase game performance using real-time scaling. In other words, the tech can make lower resolutions look good while maintaining high levels of performance.
So, how has this affected Red Dead Redemption 2? Well, according to Nvidia, using DLSS can allow PC gamers to achieve higher framerates. According to a recent Nvidia press release, players with any GeForce RTX can experience “Red Dead Redemption 2’s incredible world with max settings at 1920×1080 at over 60 FPS”. If you’re lucky enough to own anything above a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, you’ll also apparently be able to run the game at 4K 60FPS. Pretty impressive!
It’s worth mentioning that despite releasing back in 2019, Red Dead Redemption is still a graphically demanding game. Therefore, this new DLSS update should help more PC gamers achieve the best experience. Ultimately, DLSS tech will allow PC gamers to play some pretty intensive games, despite graphics card shortages.

Who knows, perhaps DLSS technology will help even the playing field when it comes to the PC gaming market. While PC hardware is typically more expensive, Nvidia’s AI hardware could transform an affordable gaming laptop into something fit to replace your current console.
