Reddit Says Black Ops 4’s ‘Black Market’ Add-Ons Total Nearly $2K

The Call of Duty community on Reddit has been left shocked and angered by a recent discovery made by a few players of Black Ops 4.

Redditors Squiggly998, dullJ, and YouTuber eColiEspresso have banded together to figure out the math behind Black Ops 4‘s Black Market, which sells in-game items for IRL money.

In a post on Reddit, dullJ shares a list of the US, AUD and CAD values “if you had bought every single item that was introduced to the Blackmarket.”

According to the post and eColiEspresso‘s YT video, the amount you could spend in the game is truly eye-watering.

“If you purchased the standard edition of the game at launch for $60 USD, purchasing everything from Blackjack’s shop would have you spending just over 22x the amount of the base game,” writes dullJ.

“This game’s micro transactions are a complete and utter joke, a spit in the face to loyal fans. We buy the game at full price, some of us even buying special editions of the game and the Black Ops Pass. All for what? For this game to be left behind and forgotten when the next Call of Duty title is released?

“I strongly urge you to not purchase CoD Points for any reason, free to play games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, etc. have less predatory MTX systems than this game that holds a $60+ pay wall. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare which is releasing this October is most likely destined to follow the same, greedy, disgusting path as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

“Please do not pre-order it, wait before you make the decision to pick it up, I assure you will not regret it.”

Of course, there’s no need to purchase everything that’s on offer here, but for completionists, perfectionists, collectors and younger players, it’s easy to imagine what the true cost of microtransactions like this could be.

Activision has yet to comment on the claims.
