When most people think of wireless earbuds, they tend to steer more towards the Apple route. Granted the Apple products are pretty decent, but they don’t really stand up to the challenge when it comes to gaming.
Gaming earphones need to support a vast array of sound, while keeping up with elements normal headphones won’t put into consideration. Things like game chats and layered music levels play a big part in making a gaming experience great. Fortunately, the EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid wireless earbuds are engineered specifically for a gamer’s dual lifestyle.
Comfort
The earbuds themselves are up there with some of the comfiest I have ever worn. I have to admit, when I first opened the box and saw them, I did not believe they would be comfy at all. But they come with an adaptable range of earbuds to suit any ear shape and size. They also sit perfectly in your ear and don’t adjust to sudden head movements. After around five minutes, I actually did not feel like I even had an earphone sitting in my ears. That’s a testament to how snug they were.
Use On Console
While they can be used on consoles, the GTW 270 is solely positioned as a mobile gaming audio product. They react so well to mobile gaming and create an atmosphere that no other product I have sampled is yet to match.
I tested them on both my mobile phone and Nintendo Switch console. The noise-cancelling isolation the earbuds provide is perfect for anyone who is out and about while using their mobile for gaming.
Battery Life
The battery life is very substantial as well for an earphone that is so powerful. On average, the charge life will last for around 6 hours of use, with charging taking around 90 minutes to complete. The actual dock for the earphones also holds a lot of charge, so you won’t be scrambling for a plug socket on any future long-distance journeys.
Style
The look of the product is very slick and gives off a very professional feel. A lot of earbuds and headphones nowadays go for a very neon and in-your-face approach, making you look more like an esports caster rather than just a regular gamer.
While these looks are no doubt popular, the EPOS GTW 270 shows that it’s not a necessity at all. I wouldn’t say the design is simplistic, but it’s in no way like some of the more flashy designs out there. That’s not a negative at all. Simplicity rules here and the design fits in great with the everyday gamer.
Sound
Sound-wise, the quality is on a very high pedestal. With interchangeable rubberized ear tip sizes and a unique ergonomic shape, each noise-isolating earbud fits the natural shape of ears for a comfortable fit. The earphones low latency codec offers closed acoustic audio clarity for fully immersive in-game playback. The unique design of the earphones delivers deep powerful bass, natural mids and crisp highs.
Accessibility
In terms of accessibility, the earphones simply pair with your phone’s Bluetooth connection and you’re good to go. If you are choosing to use them for either your PC or console, there is a small adapter provided, which a dongle (also provided) can be attached to and connected to your device of choice. Even with the dongle, it is as simple as going into the Bluetooth settings and pairing the device to your earphones. A full guide is provided with the earphones as well, should you be struggling.
Summary
Overall, the GTW 270 performed amazingly well when tested on both mobile and on a console. They are clearly built to perform on the mobile, and they do to a very high standard, but they still delivered will on my PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation. They are well worth a try if you are after some uninterrupted and high-quality audio goodness for your next gaming session.
