What’s the most important thing you need for console gaming? (Other than a TV) That’s right, the controller. Nacon has created a new controller that is styled to collaborate with the recent release of Call Of Duty Black Ops: Cold War and it’s a solid piece of equipment. From the get-go, I feel the elephant in the room has to be addressed, it does look like an Xbox controller – but that certainly is not a negative.
Comfort Is Key:
This might not be a common thing, but for me, the traditional PlayStation controller is way too small and compressed for my hands. This is not a knock on the PlayStation design at all, as it has been fine for people for years now, but is it not time we entertain moving away from tradition to have more comfort? The Nacon controller is so comfy to hold, with the texture feeling a lot more hand-friendly than the traditional PlayStation texture. The material used on the Nacon controller also does not seem to make your hands clam up as much, which is more than ideal for those long gaming sessions where the sweaty hands can so easily set in and affect your gameplay.
Slight flex, but I managed to prestige Black Ops Cold War recently, mainly due to absolutely rinsing zombies mode. I always struggled previously on Call Of Duty games, but since switching to the Nacon controller, my KD ratio has vastly improved. This is not just on Cold War, it has improved on Apex Legends and Warzone as well. I think the shape and dimensions of the controller are much better suited the competitive gamer as opposed to the design of the original PlayStation 4 controller.
Adapt And Control:
The Revolution Unlimited Pro Controller is Nacon’s first PS4™ controller with a wireless mode. This is a massive upgrade and it is brilliant that you no longer have to rely on a wire to use these controllers. It also offers all the customisation features, both manual and via software, that competitive players need. You have the ability to change the sensitivity of your joystick controllers by utilising the interchangeable heads and sticks. You can now switch between concave or convex heads for your joycons and also adjust the shafts by swapping them with a range of different diameter that comes packed in with the controller bundle. Additional weights can be added to the concealed compartments on each of the controller’s handles as well so you can truly adapt the controller to your wants and needs.
You can choose between wired and wireless mode thanks to the integrated Bluetooth receiver. It also includes a headset jack for chat and audio features in both communication modes. With the controls on the underside of the controller, you can quickly adjust the headset volume. This is a very fun feature to have as it saved you so much time, especially with the latest PlayStation controls making it rather difficult to find where to change the volume settings. You can even change the colour and brightness of the right stick backlighting for a truly personalised look!
Overall, the controller has been a fine addition to my gaming set up. It feels a lot more comfortable for my hands and is a lot more sustainable for a longer gaming session. The battery holds up well and it is not a pain to charge either. You don’t even have to plug it into the PlayStation to charge it which is ideal. As for the design, it is perfect to accompany your Cold War gaming session, but even if that is not your game of choice – it looks great anyway. The design is unique and stands out compared to any other controller, it’s a fun and great addition to your streaming set up and can actually improve your PlayStation gameplay abilities. It’s a product that is quite a pricey purchase but is well worth it when it comes to value for money, durability and comfort.
