Rockstar removes Charlie Kirk assassination mission from GTA

A user-created job that explicitly tasked players with taking down conservative commentator Charlie Kirk has been pulled from the game’s servers.

The ban hammer has swung swiftly in Los Santos this week. After a mission about assassinating Charlie Kirk has been removed from the platform.

The custom mode, which had been circulating on social media, used the game’s Creator tools to stage a violent encounter with an NPC modeled as Charlie Kirk.

While Grand Theft Auto has built its entire identity on biting satire and over-the-top parody of American culture. The TOS for GTA Online include strict provisions against content that promotes hate speech, harassment, or threats against real people.

This incident highlights the constant tightrope walk developers face with UGC. Give players robust tools to build their own fun, and someone will inevitably use them to test the boundaries of the moderation policy.
