Rumour: Watch Dogs Legion Will Be PS5 & Xbox Series X Launch Game

We’re now well into the last year of the current generation of console gaming, but with delays across the board, and many game developers now being tasked with working from home, it’s getting more and more difficult for deadlines to be met. Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs Legion is due to drop this year, but what was presumed to be an PlayStation 4 and Xbox One title is now rumoured to be the PlayStation 5’s launch title.

As reported by VideoGamesChronicle, Ubisoft is aiming for Watch Dogs Legion to “debut alongside next-gen consoles.” Though it’s highly unlikely the game won’t be unavailable on PS4 and Xbox One, it’s definitely interesting to suggest that a game developed for the current generation could so easily become a launch title for next-gen.

As always with rumours like this, take them with a pinch of salt until we hear some solid proof!

Watch Dogs Legion was originally scheduled to launch in March of this year before getting delayed. During a financial call in late 2019, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, explained the title has been delayed until late 2020 or early 2021.

The game’s official description reads as follows: “Defy opportunists that haven taken control of London, in a thrilling open-world adventure where an entire population of potential recruits are on your side.

“Fight back by weaponizing London’s tech infrastructure via high-tech hacks, and recruit anyone from an MI6 agent to an illegal street racer to join your cause. But beware – if any of your unique operatives fall in battle, they’re gone forever.

“If you need more back-up, take your recruits online and join forces with friends in four-player co-op missions, end-game challenges and daily events.”

Hopefully we’ll be finding out more about Ubisoft’s plans for Watch Dogs Legion sooner rather than later (and Beyond Good and Evil 2! What the heck is happening with that?)
