Simpsons Movie 2 Will Come ‘One Of These Days,’ Says Matt Groening

One of the most iconic animated movies of all time, The Simpsons Movie, might be getting a sequel.

The creator of The Simpsons, Matt Groening has revealed some exciting news for fans of the Fox TV series, and has announced that a second movie WILL be happening sooner than you think.

Speaking at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Groening revealed: “No doubt there will be another Simpsons movie one of these days. I think Disney wants something for its money.”

While there is no official concrete news of when it’s likely to land on screens, Groening did however confirm that the first movie was more detrimental to the show’s legacy than it was beneficial.

Groening claimed: “This is a true answer. The first Simpsons Movie almost killed us.

“We didn’t have a B-team waiting to do The Simpsons Movie, so the same people who wrote, animated, voiced and did the music for The Simpsons TV show also did the movie.

“That was in 2007. We’re almost recovered, almost.”

In related news, 20th Century Fox is turning our world ‘upside down’ as the upcoming season of The Simpsons will feature a big crossover with Stranger Things.

America’s favourite family is back for a record-breaking 31st season and another batch of episodes.

As the long-running cartoon caper approaches Episode #666, expect this year’s Halloween Special to be even spookier than usual. Show bosses have joked it was “always the plan” to make the 666th episode a Halloween Special, but I’m not buying that.

Unveiling artwork for the chilling caper, a glossy poster channels some serious Stranger Things. Lisa Simpson takes centre stage as a parody of Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven, Chief Wiggum is David Harbour’s Jim Hopper, and Luann Van Houten is Winona Ryder’s hysterical Joyce Byers.

Rounding off the poster, the Scoop Troop is played by Bart (Finn Wolfhard’s Mike), Nelson (Gaten Matarazzo’s Dustin), and Martin (Caleb McLaughlin’s Lucas). Stranger Things is more popular than ever, and as one of Netflix’s best-loved shows, it’s no surprise The Simpsonswants a piece of the action.
