Solid Snake Voice Actor Adapting American McGee’s Alice For TV

David Hayter, voice of Solid Snake and X-Men film writer, will be adapting American McGee’s Alice franchise for TV.

Released in 2000, American McGee’s Alice is a third-person action-adventure game. It received a followup in 2011 called Alice: Madness Returns. Both took a darker approach to the already quite dark Alice in Wonderland. And now Hayter will be adapting the series from TV. But it currently doesn’t have a broadcaster or streaming platform attached.

“American McGee’s Alice and Alice: Madness Returns game series is a groundbreaking reimagining of the classic tale. It takes you into the heart of a corrupted Wonderland and throws light into shadowy corners the world has never seen. I am beyond excited to bring this world of madness and wonder to a global audience,” Hayter said in a statement.

Radar Pictures and Abandon Entertainment will be producing the show.

American McGee’s Alice received mixed reviews upon its release. Some were quite favourable, other finding the game to be fairly lacking. Madness Returns generally received average reviews.

It’s a bit of a surprise to hear the series be picked up for an adaptation. In the first instance, the TV show will be an adaptation of an adaptation. The game hasn’t seen any new additions to the series since 2015, with two short films titled Alice: Otherlands.

It hasn’t had a new game since 2011, with only a hypothetical sequel planned since 2017. This new TV adaptation could be a way to renew interest in the series.
