Sony-Disney Spider-Man Deal Is Apparently Thanks To Tom Holland

In case you missed it, Spider-Man is officially back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a brief – and worrying – spell of uncertainty. After it emerged last week that Spider-Man is still a part of the MCU, more details have come forward suggesting that it’s all thanks to Tom Holland.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Holland, who of course is the actor behind the current iteration of Spider-Man, played an instrumental role in the partnership between Sony and Disney.

It’s reported by the publication that Holland met with both Disney CEO Bob Iger and Sony film chairman Tom Rothman a number of times in the pursuit of reconciling the parties – and it worked.

It’s believed that through these meetings Holland was able to convince Rothman to reconsider the proposal from Disney, before then tackling Iger to also get on board.

Not all heroes wear capes, but some do don Lycra for their roles, apparently.

Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige said at the time of the reconciliation: “I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,

“Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

Amy Pascal, who will be producing the next Spider-Man movies through Pascal Pictures added: “This is terrific. Peter Parker’s story took a dramatic turn in ‘Far From Home’ and I could not be happier we will all be working together as we see where his journey goes.”
