Streamer Believes Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ Was Taken From Banjo-Kazooie

A Twitch streamer has picked up on a pretty funny correlation between the infamous song Hotline Bling by Drake, and the Banjo-Kazooie soundtrack.

Twitch streamer Mizkif was happily playing beloved retro Rare game, Banjo-Kazooie, for his followers when he noticed the music seemed eerily similar to one of the most memed songs of all time…

Mizkif then went on to sing the lyrics to Hotline Bling in time to the Kazooie score before declaring: “What the f*ck! Drake stole from Banjo-Kazooie!”

Check out the clip in all its glory below.

Now, I’m no musical expert, but there’s not really too much of a similarity between the two pieces of music. This is almost definitely a coincidence, although we do know that Drake loves himself some video games.

Over on Twitter, Mizkif isn’t the only one who’s noticed the similarities between the video game and Drake’s song.

What do you think? Is Mizkif reaching with this one, or could he really be on to the theft crime of the century?

It’s about time that we got some more Banjo-Kazooie in our lives. The unforgettable title is due for comeback, and fans are hoping to see the loveable bear again – in any form.

Last year, gamers plagued social media with requests to have Banjo as a playable character in Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Unfortunately, it’s yet to happen, and it’s unlikely that we’ll ever actually get another Banjo-Kazooie title. The game, which originally released on the Nintendo 64 way back in 1998, was critically acclaimed and adored by its fans.

It spawned a sequel before Microsoft purchased Rare. Since then it’s all been quiet on the Banjo-Kazooie front.

Still, we can hope, right?
