Super Punch-Out is a retro classic!

Super Punch-Out 2 is a boxing beat ’em-up that is still loved to this very day and can be played via the Nintendo Switch Online library.

However, quite remarkably, despite being available for nearly three decades, this 2-player mode has only just been discovered or at least what we know of.

Discovered and shared by the Twitter account “Unlisted Cheats”. The secret two-player mode can be accessed via the game’s start screen. The 2-player mode will unlock by pressing the ‘Y’ and ‘R’ buttons on a second controller, followed by pressing ‘Start’, then ‘A’ on the first controller.

Furthermore, you will then need to select the boxer of your choice for player two, and have the second player hold down the ‘B’ and ‘Y’ buttons on their controller until the match begins.

The 2-player mode was in the OG version!

What’s especially interesting about this cheat code, is that this 2-player mode has apparently always been on the original game cartridge.

Consequently, the 2-player mode made its way over to the emulated version found on the Nintendo Switch Online library. So, there’s no need for any hacks or special software.

Just to make sure, Nintendo Life tested the sequence code to see if the 2-player mode would unlock in Super Punch-Out and indeed, it worked. Happy days!
