Texas officials have apologised for accidentally sending out an Amber Alert for Chucky from the Child’s Play movies.
According to The Guardian, the Texas Public Safety Department sent out three Amber Alert warnings for the fictional killer doll as a suspect in kidnapping.
The Amber Alert warned the public to be on the lookout for the suspect, described as a 16-pound, 3ft 1”, 28 year-old doll with red-auburn hair and blue eyes.
However the description didn’t end there because the Amber Alert even mentioned Chucky’s iconic blue denim overalls, striped long-sleeved shirt and that he was carrying a large knife.
Oh and that’s still not the end of it, because the victim of the reported kidnapping was none other than Glen, Chucky’s son from the 2004 movie Seed of Chucky.
When the Texas Public Safety Department realised that Chucky hadn’t really kidnapped his son, the department issued an apology.
The department said “this alert is a result of a test malfunction,” and then apologised “for the confusion this may have caused and (the state is) diligently working to ensure this does not happen again.“
As a fan of Chucky I can’t help but find this story very amusing. Though it does concern me a little that my own Chucky doll and his bride haven’t been in the usual spot located in the corner of my bedroom…
I should have no reason to be concerned but just to be safe I’ll do an extra sweep of my house. So on the off chance, should you see Chucky, his bride and possibly even Glen, do not approach them under any circumstances. Just to be safe!
