The Clone Wars Coming to Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Respawn Announce Jedi: Fallen Order

During EA Play, Electronic Art’s dedicated publisher E3 event, while the event wasn’t quite what many fans had hoped it would be with a lack of actual gameplay, at least there was some good news for fans of Star Wars. We had some news regarding forthcoming content for Star Wars Battlefront 2 and we got an update on the Star Wars game to be developed by the creators of the Titanfall series, Respawn Entertainment.
Firstly, let’s begin with the game that is already out and has caused quite the controversy since its launch, Star Wars Battlefront 2. It’s fair to say that opinions on the Star Wars prequel movies offer mixed emotions depending on the fans you ask. However, I do believe that they at least offered an intriguing premise and some quite cool characters, but not Jar-Jar, he can f@c! rig$t o£f.

So at EA Play, DICE announced that Battlefront 2 would be getting brand new content based upon The Clone Wars, which will bring a new map, mode and characters inspired by that era. The Clone Wars content will be arriving this summer and as well as introducing a new squad system that will help players link up with their friends more easily, we’ll also be getting a new Starfighter ‘dogfighting’ mode featuring hero ships, based within a “large scale multiplayer sandbox” that will require the players to capture command posts, while defending and attacking them (depending on which team you’re fighting for).

In terms of new playable heroes and villains, we’ll be able to play as General Grievous, Count Dooku, Anakin Skywalker and the almighty, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Additionally, the new map will be based on the planet Geonosis which is said to be the “largest level ever built for Battlefront”.

Now let’s get on to the game we know very little about, despite the project being announced back in 2016, the offering from Respawn Entertainment,. Unfortunately we never got a gameplay trailer or screenshots, but we did get the name of the Star Wars title, gameplay details and the release year.

The news came via Studio Boss at Respawn, Vince Zampella who was in attendance and revealed that their Star Wars game would be called Jedi: Fallen Order. It will be a third-person action game for which the last of the Jedi are being hunted down. It will be set between Star Wars Episode Three (Revenge of the Sith) and Episode Four (A New Hope). Jedi: Fallen Order will release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One during Fall of 2019, just in time for Christmas.
