The Day Before has a new release date

The Day Before was expected to launch on PC on March 1st, 2023. However, this week the developers announced that it’s been delayed by nine months. Its now intended release date is November 10th, 2023.

The reason why the game has been delayed is due to quite a clanger from the developer. Despite being announced over a year ago, Fntastic forgot to register the trademark for its game. Yes, really.

The developer said in a statement that the game was blocked on Steam at the request of a private individual. As a result of this dispute, The Day Before was consequently removed from the Steam platform.

The developer issues a statement

Right before the release, Steam blocked our game page at the request of a private individual, because of the name The Day Before,” said Fntastic in a statement (thanks Eurogamer).

The statement continued: “As you know, our game was announced in January 2021. At the time of the announcement, The Day Before game trademark was available.

After the announcement of the game, the above-mentioned individual filled out an application before us to register the game trademark The Day Before in the United States.

Now we find out all the circumstances of the incident and we will definitely solve everything. We previously planned to post a lengthy gameplay video later this month, but we’ll have to sort this issue out first. The developer then promised to post a new “video asap.

We understand this may disappoint many of our fans, however, we want to ensure we release the best possible game. Our 100 per cent focus remains on the game itself and how to deliver you the best game possible.

Following the delay and vague details regarding the zombie MMO, some are doubting that the will ever be released. What’s more, some are even doubting that the game ever existed.

Will The Day Before ever be released?

Time will put everything in its place [and] when the game comes out, people will finally see the truth,” said the defiant Fntastic.

We understand that some players, not seeing the whole picture, might have doubts about the game,” it continued. “Our whole focus has always been on the product itself. We’ve been creating the game for four years. All these years have been full of sweat and blood to make this game, and for many members of our team, it is unpleasant to hear such accusations.
